THE SITH CODE
Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
Through Passion I gain Strength.
Through Strength I gain Power.
Through Power I gain Victory.
Through [the pursuit of] Victory my chains are Broken.
The Force shall set me free.
This first line does not mean that peace does not exist. It means that Peace is a path to enslavement. Peace has the lure of contentment and satisfaction and security, that all needs will be met. But to be at peace also means that the individual does not suffer for those things to be enacted in their lives. The only alternative is that another will suffer to provide those things for the individual. However, in accepting those things from another, the individual becomes dependent on the provider for that peace. This becomes a submissive position as the individual gives up control of self by allowing the provider to have ultimate power over them. It is a place where the individual shuns responsibility for their own wellbeing.
Passion is the other path to be taken here. Passion is a place of responsibility. It is the acknowledgement of what the individual wants, what she desires, and then seeking the courage inside to move forward to do what it takes to achieve that. It is the impetus to action. But before that first step can be taken the individual must know the true self. This requires an alchemical process of breaking down the false self, then seeking out the monster inside and integrating it into her life. Once this is done the true self emerges and the individual realizes that “Do as Thou Wilt” is the whole of the law a Sith operates under. The power to cause change in conformity with will is realized and under this mandate. The individual can do no wrong according to the universe because she is following her true will under power of her true self.

*Through Passion I gain Strength.*
This is the beginning of action, the first step to victory. The obstacle to this first step is fear. Fear is the mind flayer. The individual must gather the strength to overcome this before the threshold of decision can be crossed. Crossing this boundary is the first step into the darkness and from this place there will be no return except through failure. Failure is different than defeat. Failure is a dishonorable decision, a fault in character. Failure is not having the perseverance to carry the individual through the suffering she previously committed to endure for Victory. Defeat, on the other hand, is never having given up the fight even in the face of impossible odds. The true Sith will go to the grave never having given up. This is a place of honor. Strength is also the place of gathering knowledge. This accumulation of information in experience is the first step to power.
*Through Strength I gain Power.*
This line of the code is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for aspiring Sith. Many Sith will claim the end goal of passion is Power. They are wrong. Power is only a means to an end, not the end goal. It is not an externally focused pursuit of money or influence. It is gathered internally through submission and manifests as consistency and the willingness to sacrifice. By embodying these traits, the individual will gain power internally through the never-ending pursuit of excellence. And that pursuit will be recognized and revered by others. This is the true meaning of power for a Sith. This is where the wisdom to use the knowledge of strength manifests. Power is not knowledge, it is wisdom. It is one thing to know the information, it is quite another to understand how to use that information effectively in the pursuit of passion.
*Through Power I gain Victory.*
Victory is not a small consideration for a Sith. It is the culmination of a lifelong pursuit of passion under will. Eating healthy for one day or getting a new job are not victories. They may be considered milestones but not victories. For a Sith Victory is something much larger than these otherwise mundane achievements. They are the result of years, even decades, of pursuit. Like the predator that must hunt, the Sith must achieve and that achievement must exceed any mundane expectation for excellence. A victory under these prerequisites would be the loss of 100 pounds after years of eating healthy or the achievement of a lifelong career goal that puts the individual at the top of her field. These are the things a Sith will call Victory.
*Through [the pursuit of] Victory my chains are Broken.*
Victory alone will not break chains. It is essentially the embracing of all these lines of the code that will break chains. And these chains are not physical in nature. Lack of money is not a chain. Money is simply a tool, nothing more. These chains I speak of are chains of the mind and of the spirit. They can manifest as any system of control designed to keep the individual from her desire. Societal norms are chains, moral systems are chains, fear is a chain, peer pressure is a chain, doubt and even shame are chains. These are the things that need to be broken in the life of a Sith. How deeply into the darkness is the individual willing to go to get what she wants?
*The Force shall set me free.*
All things begin in darkness and one day return to darkness. In this context “The Force” can be defined as the entropic march of the universe towards ultimate uniform chaos. Most will choose to simply ride this flow to their inevitable end. However, a Sith will interrupt this flow, corrupt it by drawing power from it. And then using that power to shape her environment to her will. It is an increase in order from an otherwise fated chaos. A Sith will never escape fate, but while she has the power, she can create her destiny in the Force. And this destiny becomes the Sith’s Icon to stand for all to venerate after her death.
Freedom, like power, is not an external thing. Everything is bound by the laws of the universe. And within the Sith Paradigm the individual will choose to conform to certain physical contingencies under the consequences that denying them will negatively affect her pursuits. These are levels where physical freedom is surrendered in order to further a cause. But freedom for a Sith is not a physical thing. Freedom is in the mind and it is based on the breaking of chains through victory. No matter the physical circumstance, a fully realized Sith will always be free because she will always fight, never surrender.
Contrary to popular belief, the individual does not create their reality with their mind. No amount of wishing for something will make it come true. Only action will create a desired reality. What the mind does do is create the individuals spirituality. This is the function of consciousness, to extend reality into the realms of spirituality that generates legend and myth through the experience of the human condition. The spiritual life of a Sith is not the creator of the corporeal. The corporeal is the creator of the spiritual. And in this idea, freedom can never be taken from a Sith. Freedom is the diametric opposite of peace and this last line of the code I have modified to exemplify this. Freedom and Peace become the bookends of this code. The Sith path then becomes one to deny peace and pursue freedom by any and all means available. But in this pursuit remain vigilant. Do not allow your pursuit of freedom itself to enslave you. Make the dark your ally and use it wisely for your advancement. But never surrender yourself to it or show it weakness. If you do it will consume you. It is better to be a charismatic vampire carefully hidden among humans than it is to be a raging beast that is shunned and feared.
