Fake Sith orders are hard to spot, especially when you are in the midst of them. This is because they do not actually function as a proper Sith order but as a cult. This sort of cult mentality is designed to brainwash the indiviual and then reprogram them to believe as the cult believes. Outside opinions are censored and critical thinking is discouraged. This writing will reveal to you how you can tell the difference between a fake Sith order and a real Sith order using the example of the Corax’s Reddit cult.
COUNCIL VERSUS SINGLE LEADER
The first most obvious sign the Corax order is fake is that they function under a small oligarchic council instead of a Sith autocracy. Any proper Sith order with altruistic intent would wholeheartedly adopt the principles put forth in the Sith Code. The most prominent of these is the idea that Sith function in strength under will in a clear hierarchal power structure. The council destroys this capability. Furthermore, the council structure is based on popularity in the group and not ability of the individual. This is a herd mentality that facilitates stagnation and abuse of others not in the “clique”.
VAUGELY ARBITRARY SET OF RULES THAT CONTRDICT ONE ANOTHER
Sets of rules of this sort serve only one purpose. They are used as a base of power and an excuse. They are used in any case where the council decides a member status under the councils form of bias. For example, one rule may say “remain respectful” and yet another rule may say “we defend your right to say what you want”. These rules are used against each other depending on the clique status of the individual. If the individual is not liked or has an opinion that the council does not like, the council decides it was “disrespectful” and the first rule is enacted, and the individual banned. However, if the person is well liked by the council but dissenting in opinion, the second rule will be enacted, and the individual remains. There are also rules that designate specific places as “Ban Free” and you can say what you like, however this once again only extends to how far the council becomes offended. These all fall under the hypocrisy of the council members and their inability to be objective as Sith should be. In effect they use these rules to punish people they do not like and justify it by these arbitrary standards.
SUPPRESSION OF SKEPTICISM OR DISCENT
This heading goes hand in hand with the above on. The council is based on a clique in favoritism. Challenge any member of the council in their views and you will be treated unfairly. They suppress debate and monitor criticism closer than big brother and if you step to far out of line you will be confronted and threatened to get back in line or be banned. This suppression of independent thought, critical thinking, and natural conflict engagement is completely contrary to the Sith mindset. Sith learn and grow though these very principles and so these sorts of things are highly encouraged at proper Sith Orders. At this Corax site these things are violently suppressed in favor of the overarching opinion of the council. This is not the environment for Sith to thrive in.
PARANOIA
Yes, this Corax order shows all the classic signs of a paranoid cult mentality. Join the order and be forced to an entrance interview immediately. This is done under the excuse of “vetting” but it’s actually just a thinly layered system of oppression, one part of an entire system of suppressive control. Members of this cult are constantly monitored and grilled about their outside activities. Join a different order? The Corax cult wants to know why. Have a conversation in PM with someone where you criticize the Corax council. It somehow ends up in their hands and you are confronted with it and threatened. The council of Corax has a rule in place to ban anyone that speaks of overthrowing their order! Not that a discord server could ever be “overthrown” (that’s laughable right there) but even if it were, any proper Sith would welcome the struggle for Power and may the best individual win! This is not the case here. They fear their own shadows and are so paranoid of the outside world and at their potential loss of power they will do anything to keep it.
SHAME AND GUILT ARE USED AS WEAPONS
This is a form of peer pressure and a tool and weapon that is used quite effectively by the Corax council. The warnings of stepping out of line are prolific and threats of action always hang over the memberships head if they step to far off the path the council has deemed worthy for them. These are not the trappings of a functioning Sith order that should emphasis individual pursuit and outside the box thinking. This Corax cult clings to long dead Christian notions of self-imposed slavery and they extend that same philosophy to their membership by expecting them to fall in line with their every whim in philosophy or suffer the consequences. A properly functioning Sith would never prostrate themselves before a higher authority or willingly give up power over their passions. This alone is enough evidence that the Corax organization is nothing more than a cult, not a Sith Order.
LACK OF TRAINING OR PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
These two ideas are cornerstones of Sith philosophy. Training in a formal setting or individual training, it does not matter – the Sith at any proper order are always training. And this is very publicly documented through an individual body of work. It is this body of work that earns the Sith rank and title in the community. How is training done at the Corax cult? Well if there is any at all it’s done in secret and members are promoted based on popularity instead of effort. There is an intense lack of personal responsibility in this regard. It has no similarity to training as a Sith, it is simply a popularity contest based on stagnate dogmatic indoctrination.
FINALLY
Keep in mind that one does not “Join the Sith”, one becomes a Sith. Ours is a noble path and a demanding journey designed for individuals that have the willingness to engage and the determination to defeat all mental, moral and physical obstacles that stand in the way of their desire for excellence. Sith Conquer fear and dispel doubt and they embrace suffering and conflict as the best means to achieve victory. And that victory is never compromised for a Sith. If you think you might want to take up this gauntlet in challenge then stop toying with cults and join a proper Sith order that will extract from you more will, determination and drive than you thought possible. Simply put, if you want true unbridled victory and freedom in your life then let’s see what you got!
